Physiotherapists are trained to treat any joint in the body, including your jaw joints or (temporo-madibular joints - TMJ). Dysfunction and pain usually occur because of poor habits such as clenching the jaw, excessive gum chewing or due to an acute injury (whiplash, hitting your head, chewing on something too hard). Treating this area involves gentle muscle massage, joint mobilizations and exercises but most importantly educating you in what habits you have to change.
